Web Design Graphic Design Branding Work with me

CV—Jazmin Brooks

I am a graphic and web designer with a background in fine art and photography. I have a passion for problem solving and enjoy creating engaging user experiences.

I am looking to continue to use my comprehensive design experience to provide innovative web solutions for clients and in-house teams.

Core Skillset

  • Web Design
  • Branding
  • Print Work
  • Illustration
  • Photography
  • Typography
  • UX

I have extensive experience working with current industry standard software, including but not limited to: Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.

Front End Development/Coding

I have advanced knowledge of HTML and CSS. I code the templates for the majority of projects I work on, and then craft the CSS. I feel this gives me a greater connection with my design work and allows me to add an extra sparkle at the build stage.

  • Conscious of online marketing – working with a small team has meant that I have been involved with marketing strategies on the web projects.
  • Strong technical awareness – data models, databases, some working knowledge of PHP and basic awareness of JavaScript
  • IT Skills – Microsoft Office Suite, Thunderbird etc
  • Content management systems – ContentWise, WordPress
  • Project management

Jaz Design

Offering web design & front end development, WordPress themes, logo design + more. I have enjoyed working more closely with clients, and the freedom the control over my hours has afforded. There are a few side projects in the works as a result.

Web & Graphic Designer, June 2006 – August 2013

3wise Internet Solutions

In my role at online marketing company, 3wise Internet Solutions, I worked on a variety of projects with a broad range of professionals. I was in charge of the company’s graphic and web design output. My responsibilities included:

  • Sketching and conceptualising projects at the brief stage
  • Producing wireframes
  • Producing self-directed design – websites, web applications, logos, full branding including print materials, email templates and print materials such as posters and business cards.
  • Producing HTML templates, applying CSS and implementing ContentWise (3wise’s CMS)
  • Liaising with outside contractors including other graphic designers and marketing agencies
  • Collaborating with the in-house development and marketing teams
  • And much more

MA Graphic Design (with distinction) | 2011 | University of Portsmouth

In order to gain a greater understanding of type and typography, my major MA project involved creating a working typeface. My research question centred on neutrality in type design. I learnt a great deal about how type works and how best to use it.

BA Design for Interactive Media (with first class honours) | 2008 | University of Portsmouth

My BA afforded a large amount of exploration across an array of design disciplines. The overall focus was on creating concepts from briefs, with a strong reliance on theory and history. As well as website projects, I produced a variety of work, from a short film to conceptual Flash web applications.

Jaz’s insight into the way users experience and interact with the web is impressive and can be observed in both her design proposals, which are clearly explained, and in her final design solution. She always works hard to analyse the requirements of the brief and is more than capable of turning the constraints imposed by our clients to an advantage. Her designs meet the technical and user needs for the project, whilst also being attractive to behold and engaging to use. We hope to use her services again soon.
Mark Glover, YaYa Online (June 2014)

It has been a genuine pleasure having you work with us on our websites and we shall miss your talent and enthusiasm! … whoever has you in their team will be very blessed indeed.
Kerry Sherriff, The Original Poster Company (August 2013)

She has a methodical approach to her work and produces work of a very high standard.
Chris Golya, University of Portsmouth (July 2008)
